How to Wear and Use
The Karungali Mala may be worn around the neck or used for meditation and mantra chanting. Before using it for the first time, gently clean the mala with a soft, dry cloth and keep it in your prayer area. Chant your preferred mantra or “Om Namah Shivaya” 11 or 108 times before wearing.
When using the mala for japa, move one bead at a time using your thumb and middle finger. Traditionally, the index finger is kept away from the beads. If the mala includes a larger guru bead, do not cross over it; reverse direction and continue chanting.
Care Instructions
- Keep the mala away from perfume, soap and chemical cleaners.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to water or excessive moisture.
- Remove it before bathing, swimming or strenuous exercise.
- Clean only with a soft, dry cloth.
- Store it in a clean and dry pouch when not in use.
- Do not polish the beads with chemical or artificial colouring products.
